Library as a Learning Resource Centre

College has a spacious library spread over an area of 4572 sq. ft. with enough seating capacity to accommodate 150 persons. The library houses an enormous collection of nearly 3715 books on various topics related to the field of study.

A variety of nearly Dentistry or medical journals, nearly 110+ CDs and DVDs and other periodicals to meet the ever-changing needs of the students and faculty members have been subscribed. The stack has been well organized, maintained and arranged using Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) for Classification, Cataloguing, and easy retrieval. All the books and periodicals are bar-coded and bar- code laser scanner is used at the circulation counter for books and periodicals transactions.

WEBOPAC allows the user to browse the entire library collection and provides the search facilities by Author, Title, Subject, and Keyword etc. to know the availability of library resources and to save the time of user. A total of 16 Computer Systems are available with printer to all the users. The entire system in the library has been fully automated with Wi-Fi enabled facilities.

An exclusive Intuitional library committee has been set up to periodically monitor and identify the needs of the library.

Library Rules and Regulations

Students and staff of MDC are eligible to access and use the library by following library rules and regulations but to checkout library resources one will need to become a library member.

  • Wearing ID card is compulsory inside the library.
  • Bio-metric Entry and Exit is compulsory.
  • Outside Visitors are not allowed without prior permission from Principal / Top Management.
  • Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.
  • Enter your finger print in the biometric register kept at the entrance counter before entering and leaving the library.
  • Cell phones, laptops, Audio or Video devices and bags are prohibited inside the library.
  • Students should keep all their belongings in the shelves provided at the library entrance.
  • Use of mobile phones is strictly prohibited in the library.
  • Computers and Internet will be used only for academic purposes.
  • Marking, underlining or writing on library books, journals and reading tables is strictly forbidden.
  • Discussion / Group Study is not permitted inside the library.
  • All users must observe total silence in the library and its environs at all times.
  • No library equipment may be moved, modified or tampered with without permission from the librarian.

Circulation Rules

  • The ID card should always be available with the student.
  • Members shall not share or allow others to use their Bar-coded ID cards to borrow books.
  • They should have renewed the books once in three days, maximum two renewal allowed.
  • Delay in book return to attract the fine of Rs.10/- per day.
  • In case of missing the issued books replacement of the book with five times of the MRP rate as fine will be collected.
  • Any damages, missing pages, writing in the book attract fine of two times the rate of the book.
  • Reference books and current periodicals will not be issued to any student. These can be referred and photocopying is allowed.
  • Before borrowing the book, the member must make sure that the book lent is in good condition and the pages are intact.
  • The above rules are intended to regulate the best use of Library resources and will be reviewed periodically to meet the Changing needs. Any changes in the rules or instructions or information to members will be notified on the Library Notice Board as and when required.
